RED NIGHT, WHITE CARPET
Paris-belleville, 2024-2025

During a month-and-a-half residency at the Villa Belleville, a prize of the Salon de Montrouge 2023, we developed the “Red night, white carpet” project as part of the Nuit Blanche of Paris 2024.

In Belleville (Paris 20th), residents, artists and visitors marched together to form a carnival, a caravan, an army of cripples, a funeral procession…

Underlining the bloodshed of wars and the search for a common symbol, a forty-meter red carpet was slowly moved using wooden pieces that are at once weapons, crutches and stilts, tying the weapon to the wound and to the circus.

Among them rose a hat co-created with the residents, as a totem of the multicultural neighborhood.

With a joyful tenderness and a sense of gravity, we marched to be together in a somewhat broken world.

The entire collective performance was filmed by Laurier Fourneau, and gave rise to a short film screened at the Villa Belleville during the Nuit Blanche 2025.
