Klepsydrogeios – THE EARTHOURGLASS

Climate tipping points are underway, so the Earthourglass doesn’t turn around. The environmental balance is fragile like two blown glass spheres. The upper one will be cracked by children impatient to get involved: the moment reminds us of the planetary crisis, the emergency.

The children rush to fill the hourglass of the Earth with hope and life materialized by clay balls used in gardening to drain water. Brown – soil, Red – global warming, Blue – sea, Yellow – wildlife, Green – Flora

As a metallic and symbolic support, the work has a triangular base and a bird at the top, making Dionysios Solomos’ adage “with logic and dream” as ingredients of our action for the blue planet.

The work is itinerant in partnership with Greenpeace, and is exhibited for the first time in the Mediterranean garden of the Cultural Center of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, where it dialogues with the brutalist architecture and the tree that is considered eternal, the olive tree.

The Earthourglass continues its journey towards other stages.
