CRossing walls

PAris (Nuit blanche), 2021

The “wall” is diverted from a private-public separation to the medium of a collective game between neighbors and visitors making the roadway their own. Using marking tape, they could trace on the ground the walls of their home, bring a domestic object and settle there for a night where intimacy is enacted on the stage of the city theater.

The rain led to the passing rather than the settling of the neighbors. To maintain the tape of the walls on the ground, we used the bricks-relics of destroyed walls at the end of the dead end.

The participants also stretched the tape in the air, going beyond our original proposal and reminding us of our Thread Network project, born somewhere in this dead end 6 years ago since the Cité d’Hauteville is the site of Madlen Anipsitaki’s utopian architectural degree project in 2015, the basis of our project A thread network project in the urban fabric.

A classical guitar danced concert (Thomas Csaba and Thea Bautista), a Racine scene (Juliette Riedler and Emilien Cristia), a musical performance (Mehdi Besnainou) happened during the night. In the apotheosis of the nocturnal surprises, the woman on the 4th floor balcony throws the marking ribbon and “we are on a boat!”, where the anchor is floating.
