The series of « Models by hearts » is an archive work of the public space interventions « A thread network in the urban fabric », in a sculptural way faithful to our memories and desires. Nine models are created, one for each « thread network ».

A thread network in the urban fabric

Central and South America, 2018-2019. With local academic and associative partners.

The sculpture-bobbins of our international project “A thread network in the urban fabric” incorporate bobbins of thread that the inhabitants and passers-by are invited to unwind to hang the threads wherever they wish in the urban space. They create a network of links playing with the constraints and the history of the place which, transformed into a scene for free expression, appears to them in a different way.

Dipping their pen in our multicolored inkwell, they write a new page of their common history and of our research. In the end, after two weeks or two months, it is the dismantling party : the actors collectively recover threads and sculptures.

The materials have an endless history and their use can be constantly modified. Rejected then recovered, assembled, and reinvested with a new purpose, they bear witness of the history of certain places and of the relationships that have been tied to them.

The thread network of the Jardim Damasceno, Brasilândia, São Paulo

At the periphery of São Paulo, between the city and the tropical forest, stands the ex-favela Brasilândia. On the stairs of this self built neighborhood, everyone knows each other and the thread network is vividly created by the community. The stairs are like an extension of the houses and neighbors of all age cherish the thread network to the extent of not dismantling it in the end.
